December 25, 2004
CLARISSA, a spoken dialogue system to be used by astronauts, was delivered to the International Space Station by a Russian rocket on December 25, 2004. ICSI researcher Manny Rayner worked with NASA's Beth Ann Hockey to develop the system, which will read procedures to astronauts and can also answer simple questions, take notes, and display pictures.
